week 12
I don't really like the gradient technique. I kind of knew that before I tried it but I promised I'd give it a shot.

week 11
- richard said...
- good strong work. Take time to compare the candle works with this new work and remember the freedom that you felt when you were experimenting with different materials. Try and retain the same sense of freedom using paint, don't try to 'paint' the painting in a traditional sense. Think about what role your drawing is playing with this work.

meeting 9 summary
We video chatted for 2 hours. We talked about white paintings, from Malevich
to Rauchenberg
to Ryman.
He suggested quick ink and bleach drawing, I'll pass.
He also has brought up mud puddle drawing on a few occasions.
monoprint!
Use the bath tub to keep from burning my house down.
Do whatever I fancy.

week 9
I have a few more smoke drawings that I haven't supplemented yet.
This is my fave.
This needs a white layer next, more contrast.
So does this.
the pink is wax.
It took a while to get back in the swing of monoprinting. I'm planning to keep working at this process. A lot of these just look pretty messy.

week 8
More candle drawings. This week I used different papers and in some cases I used water on the paper first, then on some I wiped the carbon off some. I did it in the bathroom by a full tub to cut down the breeze. I didn't catch any on fire, I definitely had more control this week, but it's still completely random, I don't know what it's going to look like on the other side, but I can keep if from caching fire. Oh, there's one more, it was really wet last night so i set it aside. I'll post it later.
